Superstar or crazy childish dreams

Being “almost” finished with my current education, I’ve been doing some thinking and analysis of what my life has been so far and what I want it to be in the future. I’ve been recalling every single thing I dreamed of becoming when I was a little kid (mind the delusional ideas) and this is what I could remember:

-Pop singer (at that time I was thinking of becoming the next Whitney Houston, I was four years old).
-Architect (I studied a year of Industrial Design).
-Professional ballet dancer (I danced ballet for over eight years).
-Opera singer (I studied music for over eight years and singing for two years).
-Archeologist alla Indiana Jones.
-Physical educator (I’m one).
-Secret agent.
-Polyglot.
-Tennis player alla Steffi Graff (I still play squash).
-Fashion designer (I love shopping).
-Model.
-Martial arts expert. This included not only being a ninja, but also a shaolin kung-fu master, and expert in every major martial art there is. You can’t be the best if you only master one martial art, you know (I did some karate, tae-kwon-do and kickboxing for some years).

I still would have loved becoming an opera singer or a martial arts expert right now, but instead, I lead a normal, ordinary life. I wonder if all those childhood dreams were something I should have followed through, I wonder if I was meant to become a superstar, or if it only was a sign of how delusional as a child I was (am). I’m sure I wasn’t the only one with silly dreams, but dreams are that important thing that makes us do things and that leads us somewhere. What did you dream of becoming yourself? Did you manage to?

Twelve layout designs that I love

Well, actually thirteen, but it sounds better with 12 :p. I’ve recently come across these websites, and I was immediately struck by their awesome layouts. These sites’ design inspire me to no end and maybe they’ll inspire you too. (Listed in no particular order)

ilovecolors.com.ar. I love the details in this one. The watercolor details for the category tagging, the date image, the header, the ripped paper. It’s one of my favorites and it reminds me of a circus somehow…

blkmtnstudio.com. I love this layout! The colors remind me very much of rainstorms, and I think the illustration is very cute. I’m very fond of the new “grunge-old-vintage” look and I think this design is lovely!

torondel.net. I love the illustration and the colors. It’s really cute and the crab on the footer adds a very nice touch! I’m in love with the font used (does anybody know which one it is?) and the sidebar styling.

daxandalice.com. This one reminds me a lot of Paris and Buenos Aires. It’s just so cute and the colors work very well together adding maybe a more mature look than it would have gotten with brighter colors.

events.carsonified.com/fowa. I don’t really know what I like about this one except for the backgound textures, the zig-zag borders and the cute grunge illustrations. I think the overall look of the layout is something I’d definitely could get inspired of.

hellowiki.com. I love the simplicity of this one! I love the header with the soft gradient, the logo and the curvy border. Definitely my style nowadays, it’s just very nice.

henryjones.us. I like the simplicity and mature look of this one, yet there’s some attention to detail. I would’ve preferred other brighter colors to make it more attractive, but overall I like it a lot. I think it serves its purpose.

razvanstavila.com. I thought this one was rather original and I love the colors and textures used.

intotherain.org. This one I’ve liked since the first time I saw it. I would have dreamed of having come up with such a nice illustration and overall design. I just love it.

ispoil.net. I love the grungy and “scrapbooky” look of this one. It’s looks like scrap-booking from sixty years ago, plus I get a “Humphrey Bogart’s detective desk” vibe from it. There’s a lot of attention to detail and the colors are very well used in my not educated opinion.

valentinaolini.com. This is just very cute and colorful. I love the details here and there and it’s a classical Valentina layout.

webdesignerwall.com. There’s so much detail and colors in this layout that I never get tired of it cause I always find something new which I haven’t seen before. I think it’s adorable.

rin-wendy.com. I was amazed by the cuteness and originality of this layout. I have never seen two simultaneous blogs featured in this way and I think they’ve succeeded quite well with the layout’s balance.
